Bassist Bruce Meikle was introduced to jazz by listening to legendary bassists of the time. Growing up in Vancouver, Bruce divided his time between playing in the high school stage band and in small jazz groups with friends, and with the Vancouver Youth Orchestra, all the while studying bass at the Vancouver Academy of Music, and at the Banff Jazz Program. After spending three summers with the National Youth Orchestra of Canada, he completed his music degree at the University of Ottawa. Upon graduation, he hurried back to the West Coast as quickly as he could, performing with orchestras and with jazz groups. He is now a member of the Victoria Symphony, and the Victoria Jazz Orchestra.
