Jo Bates [actor] is a 20 year veteran Film, Stage and Television actress here in BC. She has guest starred and co-starred on many TV episodics and in films. Most recently, she was nominated for a Leo for her role as the vicious and ambitious Paulette McBride, in the Indie film, “Quest For Samurai”. She also appeared in a featured role in ‘Crossing’, that has garnered six Leo nominations this year. Throughout her career she has been active on stage as well, and has also directed three plays and co-produced the short film, Exchange, written and directed by William B. Davis. Co-founder of “The Shakespeare Centre”, a training ground for actors in Shakespearean technique, she continues to be active in the development of this community’s vast pool of talent. As an elected Director on The Executive Board of the UBCP for the past five years, working on behalf of and in support of her fellow actors.
