Celebrated for the clear silver-like quality and versatility of her voice, soprano Katy Hedalen recently returned to Vancouver, after teaching and performing in Toronto. Among her performing engagements in Canada, the UK, France and the United States were opera, recital, and concert appearances. Katy is an avid promoter of contemporary music, and has premiered a full-length opera and songs that were specially written for her. Katy has taught Voice and Opera Workshop courses at Oklahoma State University, and she was Head of the Voice Department at the Merriam School of Music in Toronto, where she was responsible for training new voice teachers. Katy's passion is to share music with widespread audiences, and she is known for her creative style in making classical music in a completely accessible, non-classical way.
