In her first year of college, Lauris Davis decided to play the oboe after realizing it was no fun to play the trumpet (her first instrument) with braces on your teeth! Little did she know you have to spend the rest of your life making reeds! Since completing a music degree at the University of British Columbia and the Artist Diploma program at the Vancouver Academy, Lauris has been freelancing in Vancouver. Lauris has performed with the Modern Baroque Opera Company, the Canada West Chamber Orchestra, the Vancouver Island Symphony, the West Coast Symphony Orchestra, the Vancouver Chamber Players, the Vancouver Inter-Cultural Orchestra, the Kamloops Symphony Orchestra, the Ventos Woodwind Quintet, the Plastic Acid Orchestra, the Erato Ensemble and is currently Principal oboe with the Okanagan Symphony Orchestra. She has been a soloist with the West Coast Symphony, the Vancouver Philharmonic, the Music and Munch concert series on Salt Spring Island, the Music and Muffin series in West Vancouver and for the Society for a Celebration of Women Composers.
