SUZANNE SNIZEK, flute
Suzanne Snizek is currently the flute instructor at both Trinity Western University (Langley BC) and Douglas College Community Music School. She is also in her fourth year of the DMA programme in flute performance at UBC. She has performed and taught in Taiwan, and upon returning to the US, she won first prize in the Mid-South Young Artist Flute Competition and developed an active freelance career. She performed with the Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia, Philadelphia Boys Choir, Harrisburg Symphony, Riverside Sinfonia, Delaware Symphony, Trenton Symphony and "Orchestra 2001" (a new music ensemble) among others. Commercially she has recorded for "Kindermusic," "HBO" television productions, the "NFL Presents" theme and numerous commercials. She also performed with the Moody Blues and Roger Daltrey and served as principal flute of the Bel Canto Opera company in Philadelphia. Teaching is important to Suzanne. She was a faculty member at the Settlement Music School of Philadelphia, the oldest community music school in the United States, was Senior Lecturer in flute at the University of the Arts (1999- 2004); currently she is teaching at both St. Georges School in Vancouver and Trinity Western University in Langley, as well as maintaining a private studio in Vancouver. Her students have gone on to major music programs across the United States and Canada.
