Stephen Buck
Bio
Stephen Buck grew up in London Ontario and began playing clarinet in the 7th grade. He added saxophone and flute through high school and started playing professionally in local big bands in the 12th grade. He studied classical saxophone for a few years and also attended Humber College. In 1985 he moved to Europe and began a career as a woodwind doubler playing in theatre orchestras. Some high points of his career were performing Bolero for Leonard Bernstein, playing on the David Letterman Show and recording with the German NDR big band. Presently he plays part time with the Okanagan Symphony and runs the weekly Jazz Jam at the Rotary Centre for the Arts. He also enjoys playing jazz double bass with his sons in the Alex Buck Trio.
