Ashley Kroecher, viola
After completing a B.A. with honours at UBC, Ashley Kroecher spent five years in one of Germany’s national conservatories where he completed a teacher’s diploma and performance degree under James Creitz. After moving to Kelowna in 2003, Ashley became Assistant Principal Violist with the Okanagan Symphony Orchestra with whom he has been featured both as section leader and soloist. Ashley has also performed on numerous occasions with the Vancouver Island Symphony, the Prince George Symphony, the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, and Opera Kelowna. In 2013 he won the position of Principal Violist with the Kamloops Symphony, where he is also very active as a member of the Sycamore String Quartet. As a teacher Ashley worked with the JayEss and the Kelowna Community Music schools before concentrating more exclusively on his home studio. For five years he also co-taught the violin programme at Aberdeen Hall Preperatory School. Ashley feels very fortunate to now do most of his teaching privately at home, sharing two studios with his wife Sarah. Together they have helped many students of all ages tap their deepest potential on violin and viola; and more importantly, to establish a truly solid musical foundation.
