Bio
Brent Akins is Concertmaster of the CBC Radio Orchestra and Principal Second Violin of the Vancouver Symphony in Vancouver, British Columbia. Prior to coming to Vancouver, Mr. Akins served as Assistant Principal Second Violin with the St. Louis Symphony, and was a member of the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra. He has performed as soloist with the CBC Radio Orchestra, Vancouver Symphony, St. Louis Symphony, Spokane Symphony, American Ballet Theatre Orchestra, and the Oregon East Symphony.
The Vuillaume Duo has performed repertoire for two violins since 1979. They have been featured in recital with Community Concerts, in radio broadcast recordings as soloists with the CBC Radio Orchestra and for CBC’s Westcoast Performances. They have appeared as soloists with the St. Louis Symphony, the Fraser Valley Symphony, the Abbotsford Symphony and the Oregon East Symphony. The Vuillaume Duo performs on violins made by the 19th century French maker, Jean-Baptiste Vuillaume.
