Bio
Joyce Cherry [piano] received her degree in Public School Music at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York. After marrying, she moved to Toronto where she received her Master of Music degree in Music Education from the University of Toronto. She was an elementary music specialist for the Surrey School District from 1974 until her recent retirement. Joyce is a favourite piano accompanist with many Vancouver artists and choirs. In 2005 she and her daughter Rebecca collaborated on a CD for Temple Sholom in Vancouver entitled, “Remembrances”, a collection of Jewish and Classical meditative music for violin and piano. Joyce and her husband Gordon formed the Cherry Classics and the Simchaphonics in 1981, two of Canada's top dance and Klezmir ensembles.
