Brian G’froerer, horn Brian G’froerer was a member of the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra from 1974 to 2008, and Principal Horn of the CBC Radio Orchestra from 1976 to the orchestra’s demise in 2008, performing on their many recordings on CBCs SM5000 series, as well as on the orchestra’s regular radio broadcasts. Brian has also performed with Vancouver New Music, in opera, ballet and Broadway-show pit orchestras, plus countless radio and TV jingles, TV series and film scores. He has also performed with the Calgary, Victoria, Winnipeg and National Arts Centre orchestras. Brian has been active as a teacher over the years, as a horn instructor at the Vancouver Academy of Music, the University of BC and at several local colleges. For the past five years, he has been the horn coach at the National Youth Orchestra of Canada. Now retired from full-time orchestral playing, Brian teaches and freelances in Vancouver, performing as an extra player with the VSO and other local ensembles.
