Bio
Yi Zhou [violin] is amember of Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, Vancouver Opera Orchestra, and played regularly with the former CBC Radio Orchestra. She completed her early study in China, then continued her violin studies on full scholarship at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. She completed her Masters degree at USC while at the same time being concertmistress of the American Youth Orchestra and the Young Musician’s foundation’s Debut Orchestra. In 2003 Yi was appointed concertmistress of USC Symphony by maestro Sergui Comissiona (Conductor Laureate of Vancouver Symphony). Yi has performed with the Los Angeles Opera, the San Diego Symphony, the Pacific Symphony, and the Long Beach Symphony. Concert tours have taken her to Germany, Holland, Finland, Denmark, Latvia, and Estonia. After Yi moved to Vancouver two years ago, in addition to her work with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra and Opera Orchestra, she performs un New Music groups like Turning Point Ensemble, Vancouver intercultural Orchestral, and pop recording projects for Michael Buble.
