Bio
Margaret Dzbik [violin] is the Suzuki Violin Coordinator at the Victoria Conservatory of Music. She studied violin in her native country of Poland and then in Canada, including Chamber Music with the Lafayette String Quartet and Cuarteto Latinoamericano. She was a founding member of the St. Clement’s Consort which toured schools in remote parts of Vancouver Island and the Queen Charlotte Islands. Currently, Ms. Dzbik performs with the Victoria Symphony, the Palm Court Orchestra, the Salon Orchestra (Concertmaster), and the Victoria Operatic and Gilbert and Sullivan Orchestras. With one foot in the classical music tradition, Margaret is interested in many styles of music and in improvisation, with particular interest in traditional folk music. She is the Music Director of White Eagle Folk Band (Polish folk music), and also as a member of Two Tango, which plays Argentinean Tango, and Jamshed, which searches out music of Eastern Europe and the Balkans, and Gypsy, Irish, and Scottish music.
