Lorna Fortin [cello] was born in Vancouver and has lived here all her life except for 4 years as a young child when her family lived in Calgary. During an educational exchange to a Waldorf school in Germany in high school Lorna made many life-long friends, experienced the rich and historic culture, and became fluent in German. She was well established in her cello studies by age 9 and enjoyed a youth filled with orchestral playing. She went on to study music therapy at Capilano College. Her career now includes teaching at the Vancouver Waldorf School, working with adults with developmental disabilities, and teaching cello privately in her home studio.
