Originally from Brandon, MB, Cameron McPhail [baritone] found his way to music following completion of a degree in Economic Geography at UBC and after having been a member of the Varsity Volleyball Team.  An unusual route for sure. His operatic debut was in Prague, a city where Mozart’s music was very popular during the composer’s lifetime.  He sang the title role in Mozart’s opera Don Giovanni. Since then he has sung a number of roles with opera companies in Western Canada.  He has also performed with The Northern Czech Philharmonic, the Waterloo Symphony Orchestra, UBC Symphony, in the Bard on the Beach Festival, and several times with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra.  In September, Mr. McPhail will begin his Masters in Opera with at Yale University.
