Mei Han is virtuoso player of the Chinese zheng, and an innovator, exploring new directions for solo zheng and the zheng in combination with other instruments.  Han has performed in Asia, Africa, Australia, Europe, and North America.  She enjoys venturing into music that is experimental and improvisational, performing at major music festivals such as the Vancouver International Jazz Festival, Atlantic Jazz Festival, and the Vancouver New Music Festival.  She is the director of the Chinese Music Ensemble at the University of British Columbia, founded the Chinese ensemble at the University of Michigan, and has lectured on Chinese music in many universities and music institutes around the world.
