Chris Millington earned his degrees from the University of Ottawa and the Berklee College of Music. He played principal saxophone with the premier band of the Canadian Armed Forces, and for ten years, performed with the Canadian government’s top diplomatic musical ensemble. He served as Director of the navy’s jazz ensemble, the Tradewinds Jazz Orchestra. His audiences have included dignitaries including Queen Elizabeth II, Prime Ministers Jean Chretien and Margaret Thatcher, and presidents Bill Clinton and Boris Yeltsin. His playing partners have included many jazz greats. Today he has an active career in Victoria, playing at the Bengal Lounge in the Empress, performing with jazz colleagues in combinations from trio to big band, recording, and composing.
Joining Chris in the trio are Brent Jarvis and Simon Millington. Brent is a graduate of the University of Toronto Bachelor of Music in Jazz Performance program. Brent's first album Sequence was awarded Best Jazz Album of 2005 by CJAM FM, and featured west coast guitar legend Pat Coleman. Most recently Brent has completed a recording featuring the poetry of Canadian poet Dorothy Livesay. Simon Millington is an award winning bassist for classical/pop tenor Ken Lavigne. Simon was the recipient of the 2008 Victoria International Jazz Festival Music Scholarship. A gifted student of several renowned bassists, Simon is comfortable in many styles from jazz to pop to rock. Simon also performs and has recorded with several other ensembles.
