Carol Pelkner performs regularly as percussionist with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra. Early in her career, she was principal percussionist with the Omaha Symphony Orchestra. She also has regularly performed with the San Diego Symphony and Chamber Orchestra, as well as the San Diego Opera and Starlight Opera. Ms. Pelkner graduated with a Bachelor of Music (Percussion Performance with Distinction) from the University of Missouri, Kansas City. She has co-authored nine elementary band method books for mallet percussion, timpani and snare drum. Performing as solo marimbist for retirement homes, hospitals and churches is her great passion. Recently she fulfilled a two-decade dream of recording a CD of hymn arrangements played on the marimba and vibraphone called Be Thou My Vision.
