Bio
Catherine McGrath is a folk-roots musician and singer based in Nelson, BC. Originally trained in classical piano, she also plays guitar, banjo, mandolin, and accordion. She has been involved in acoustic folk circles and ensembles in Saskatchewan and BC for more than 20 years. Her current projects include a klezmer and traditional jazz group, Cattle Annie & the Crooked Corral, a western swing and old-time band, and Oxygen Orkestar, a Balkan brass collective. She has been organizing and playing for old-time contra and square dances in Nelson for the past 3 years. Her Kootenay Co-op Radio show, Mad for Trad, showcases traditional and neo-traditional music from around the world, and is a testament to her love for acoustic, grass-roots sounds.
