A native British Columbian, violist Matthew Davies has been described as a "thoughtful, deeply honest, and communicative musician", with a "unique intensity" in performance. He has studied and performed extensively at San Francisco Conservatory of Music, New England Conservatory, and Lynn University, as well as The Banff Centre, The Aspen Festival of Music, and the Tanglewood Music Institute. His primary instructors include Heilwig von Konigslow, Jodi Levitz, Kim Kashkashian, and Ralph Fielding. In 2012, Mr. Davies returned home to join the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra’s viola section.
