Bio
The West Isle Winds is a clarinet, horn and piano trio based in Nanaimo. Heather Walker, French horn, is a member of the Vancouver Opera Orchestra, the Vancouver Island Symphony Orchestra, and an active freelancer with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra and many other groups in B.C. She has played with orchestras in Quebec and Mexico, and multiple chamber music groups. She teaches Alexander Technique out of her home studio. Donna Falconer, piano, was a faculty pianist and vocal coach at UBC and the Vancouver Academy of Music. A founding member of OperaBreve, she has worked with Vancouver Opera, Burnaby Lyric Opera, and Opera Nuova Edmonton. Donna now maintains a busy voice and piano studio in Nanaimo and frequently collaborates with Vancouver Island musicians and visiting artists. Susanne Bullock, clarinet, was a member of the Brisbane Sinfonia and on the faculty of the college there. Susanne returned to Canada in 1997 for advanced studies, then joined the Vancouver Wind Trio and toured with them throughout the US, Mexico and Canada. From 2003-2011 she was principal clarinettist with the Vancouver Island Symphony, appeared as soloist with orchestras in Canada, Australia and Mexico. She teaches clarinet at Vancouver Island University and the Nanaimo Conservatory as well as at her private studio.
