Bio
Joseph Elworthy [cello] has been a featured soloist, recitalist, and chamber musician throughout Canada, the United States, Asia and Europe, performing on such stages as Alice Tully Hall, Carnegie Hall, the Library of Congress, and Seojong Hall. Since 2002, he has been a member of the Vancouver Symphony. He has appeared on television and radio broadcasts around the globe including CBC, Arts & Entertainment, BRAVO, PBS, and Radio Europe. His recordings can be heard on EMI, Sony, and Bose record labels. Elworthy has been the recipient of Canada Council career grants, including being chosen as the recipient of the Sylva Gelber Award. Mr. Elworthy taught at the Long Island School of the Arts in New York, and the Closter Conservatory in New Jersey. Currently, he is Cello Instructor, Director of Chamber Music, and Conductor of Chamber Strings at the Vancouver Academy of Music.
