For more than fifty years the National Youth Orchestra of Canada has provided the most comprehensive training programme available to our country's best young classical musicians.  Approximately one-third of Canadian professional orchestral musicians are alumnae of the NYOC.  Each year over 500 students between the ages of 16 and 28 audition, and 90 to 100 are selected to participate in the summer programme.  The institute culminates in a concert tour, which this year includes Ontario, Quebec, Alberta and BC.  In Vancouver the orchestral concert will presented by Health Arts Society at the Chan Centre, UBC.  In addition to the orchestral concert, chamber groups from within the orchestra will perform concerts for audiences served by Health Arts Society in Vancouver and Toronto.
