Bic began studying music at age 8 in Vietnam, completed her studies there, and came to BC in 1992 to teach Vietnamese instruments at the University of British Columbia. She plays many of the rare instruments of Vietnam and specializes on the dan bau (one string zither). Bic was the first woman to receive the first prize for Dan Bau in the 1988 Vietnam Competition of Professional Instrumentalists. She is interested in music from other countries and has performed in 25 countries as a solo artist and with the Khac Chi Bamboo Music.
