Bio
MATTHEW POON, piano
Matthew Poon began learning piano at the age of 4, and he and the piano have been together ever since. He is equally at ease as a soloist and as a partner with his musical colleagues, both instrumentalists and singers. Through his years of study as a youth, and in his degree study at U Vic and at the University of Ottawa, Matthew benefitted from the instruction and mentoring he received, and includes an active teaching schedule into his career. Currently, Matthew works with ChoirKids, a non-profit project whose goal is to involve children in choral singing in their schools. He also accompanies the choirs at Glenlyon Norfolk School, The Victoria Newcombe Singers, The Victoria Summer Club and The Victoria Chinese Alliance Church English Choir.
