Bio
At the age of 22, Scottish-born Lorna McGhee became co-principal flute of London's BBC Symphony Orchestra, and has performed with the London Symphony, Academy of St-Martin-in-the-Fields, the CBC Radio Orchestra, Scottish Chamber Orchestra, BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, Manitoba Chamber Orchestra, Toronto Philharmonia, and Victoria Symphony. She has made a number of recordings and her performance of Bax's chamber music with the ensemble "Mobius" was selected as the Editor's Choice for Gramophone Magazine. Lorna and her duo partner, Heidi Krutzen have released two CDs. The Krutzen/McGhee Duo are active in expanding the repertoire for flute and harp, with four of the Duo's own commissions amongst the diverse choice of repertoire presented. Lorna performs in chamber music festivals such as the Seattle Chamber Music Festival and Music in the Vineyards, California. She is currently teaching at the University of British Columbia, and gives master classes at universities, conservatoires and flute festivals in the UK, USA and Canada, and has been a resident artist/teacher at the Banff International Centre for the Arts. Lorna studied at the Royal Academy of Music, where she was awarded the Queen's Commendation for Excellence.
