Bio
Rosanna Butterfield, cello
Rosanna Butterfield is a versatile cellist with a passion for music as a tool for social change. After studying with Judith Fraser at the Vancouver Academy of Music throughout high school, she earned her Bachelor of Music degree at Rice University’s Shepherd School of Music in Houston, Texas, under the tutelage of Norman Fischer. Rosanna then became a fellow at the New World Symphony in Miami, Florida, where she honed her skills as an orchestral musician and participated in a variety of educational outreach projects. She was also a fellow at the Tanglewood Music Center, and played with the Verbier Festival Orchestra in Switzerland. For the past several years, Rosanna has played all over North America, from Portland, Oregon, to Sarasota, Florida, and even performed for four months aboard a cruise ship! She often plays with the Victoria Symphony, and enjoys a multifaceted career attempting to balance her love of orchestral playing with her other interests such as teaching, traveling, and playing chamber music.
