Jonnine Mahonen, trumpet/vocals

Jonnine Mahonen has been playing trumpet for over 30 years. She has a degree from the Universty of British Columbia and has studied with some of the best classical and jazz artists in Canada. She has toured Canada, the US, and Europe with symphonic, jazz, and Balkan brass ensembles. She learned all she knows from people like Donnie Clark, Martin Berinbaum, Fred Stride, Wynton Marsalis, Phil Nimmons, Hakan Hardenberger, and Boban Markovic.  Her most recent passion is Balkan music, learning new approaches to trumpet from Serbian trumpet master Demiran Cerimovic. After years of playing with Balkan ensembles Oxygen Orkestar, Orkestar Slivovica and malagrupa, including collaborations with Lemon Bucket Orkestra and Amanda Palmer, her current project is a quartet called Super Krystal.
