Emily Cheung, soprano
Recently returned from living and singing six years in Europe, soprano Emily Cheung is a gifted performer, praised for her clarity of tone and engaging stage presence. A highly experienced musician, Emily divides her time between solo and ensemble engagements and has sung under the baton of more than 55 conductors. Since 2004, Emily has sung in concerts worldwide, from South Africa to Venezuela to Malaysia, including such highlights as the 2008 Summer Olympic Games Opening Ceremony in Hong Kong with Jackie Chan, the World Premiere of Canadian composer R. Murray Schafer’s The Love That Moves the Universe, and as a featured soloist in a private concert for the Emperor and Empress of Japan. Emily has presented two solo recitals in benefit of the Imagine There’s No Hunger campaign for the WhyHunger Charity in Amsterdam, captured the attention of the press in the World Stage Premiere of Otto M. Zykan’s Staatsoperette at the Bregenzer Festspiele in Austria, and is a proud founding member of international group Time Ensemble, whose mission is to inspire children through music in communities in need around the world.
