Vitara Duo

The Vitara Duo is a piano and violin duo made up of Kurt Chen (violin) and Anican Yu (piano). They are both currently in their fourth and final years at the UBC School of Music, each earning a bachelor's degree in music performance.   While they are required to study more formal Western classical and art music at the university, both Kurt and Anican also have an innate talent for improvisation and performing by ear.  The duo has enjoyed showcasing improvisation and their arrangements with their numerous videos on social media. Their strengths lie in repertoire consisting of jazz, ballads, and pop songs.  Although they have only been performing together a short while, The Vitara Duo have now enjoyed performing many different types of performances around Vancouver since the summer of 2019.
