Taryn Plater, mezzo-soprano

Taryn Plater is a versatile mezzo-soprano applauded for her “dramatic and vocal thrust” (Opera Canada). She created the digital statement First Steps with Against the Grain's National Opera Intensive featuring Ukrainian art song and took part in the 2022 Ukrainian Art Song Summer Institute. Taryn was a 2021–2022 RBC Artist Fellow with the Association for Opera in Canada, a 2021 Vancouver Opera Foundation bursary recipient, and a recipient of the Hnatyshyn Foundation Heritage, Spirit & Future Award. In addition to her performance endeavours, she is a mentor with Opera InReach and the founding Artistic Director of Opera Unbound.
