Bio
Yuhui Wang, baritone
Yuhui Wang is a Chinese baritone, an official soloist with the Vancouver Youth Philharmonic Orchestra, and a member of the North American Artist’s Association. He is currently finishing his Doctor of Musical Arts at the University of British Columbia's School of Music. With UBC Opera, he has performed major roles including: the Count in Le nozze di Figaro; Escamillio, Zuniga, and Moralès in Carmen; Dandini in La Cenerentola; Taddeo in L’Italiana in Algeri; Barone in Il viaggio a Reims; Harlequin in Ariadne auf Naxos; Daperttuto in Les Contes d’Hoffmann; Secret Police Agent in The Consul, Horstmayer in Silent Night; Demetrius in A Midsummer Night’s Dream; De Brétigny in Manon; and Barone in La Traviata. In 2022, Yuhui performed the role of Uncle Toy in the world premiere opera, Chinatown, with Vancouver City Opera and Baritone 1 in Du Yun’s Opera, Angel’s Bone, with Vancouver Renaissance Opera. Yuhui is frequently featured in public concerts. He has been heard with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra in its Traditional Christmas Concert tours, the Orchestra of Theatre J. K. Tyl in the Czech Republic , and the Vancouver Youth Philharmonic Orchestra in China’s 70th Anniversary Concert at the Chan Centre.
