Jack was exposed to music early in life within a large extended family that gathered around the piano for singalongs. The old popular jazz standards are deeply imbedded with fond memories of passing generations that kept the music alive. Since arriving in the Kootenays 33 years ago he has played keyboards in a variety of performing groups.  His lucky musical connection was with a dance band "Lazy Poker" where he became a fixture for 15 years in the rhythm section. That's where he met the local  singer Aryn Sheriff who left audiences  spellbound with her powerful voice and presence. While entertaining the dancing enthusiasts of the Kootenays with mostly R&B tunes Jack maintained a love for the jazz standards. His love of jazz inspired him to follow the thread back to the blues and explore the roots that led to the music of today.  Jack has performed with another local favorite singer Bessie Wapp at a number of weddings. He continues to explore the dynamic range of musical influences with a local band playing to a younger audience. He always returns home to play the old standards that remind him of the good ol' days of singing around the piano.
