Victor Mangas
Bio
Victor Mangas, clarinet
Clarinetist Victor Mangas is a McGill trained clarinetist in Orchestral Music Performance. Winner of a 2022 BC Arts Council award, he was also the recipient of the university’s 2021 "Lawrence Mysak Prize for Outstanding Achievement in Woodwinds". Victor has won scholarships to Domaine Forget and the Orford Winds (Québec), the Prague Summer Nights Festival Orchestra (Czech Republic), and the Interlochen Clarinet Institute (Michigan). A graduate of the Idyllwild Arts Academy in California, he served as Principal Clarinet of the Vancouver Academy and Youth Symphony, the Idyllwild Symphony (California), and the World Youth Symphony (Michigan). Winner of many accolades, including First Place in the Friends of Chamber Music Competition, the Gerbrecht Woodwind Competition, and the Vancouver Youth Symphony Concerto Competition, Victor was a featured soloist with the orchestra and broadcast live on radio. He has studied in France, the USA, and Canada; his teachers have included Alain Desgagné, Emil Khudyev, José Franch-Ballester, and Yehuda Gilad.
