Bio
Montreal-born Rena Sharon [piano] began her life in chamber music at the age of eight. Trained at Indiana University, she began performing internationally at 19. Called "one of the finest musicians of her generation" she was awarded the Best Pianist diploma at the International Voice Competition of Rio de Janeiro. Among Canada's foremost chamber musicians, she has performed in recital with many internationally renowned artists. Ms. Sharon is Professor of Collaborative Piano Studies at UBC. She is founding Artistic Director of the Vancouver International Song Institute, an intensive summer program for singers and accompanists, and co-directs the Young Artist Experience, an inter-disciplinary chamber music program blending intensive music training with studies in science, humanities, arts, and social responsibility. Ms. Sharon has recorded for the Marquis, Finlandia, Atma, Brava, Summit, Sono, CBC-5000 and Boston Record labels .
